What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin custom-made shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are commonly used to correct:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Stains or discoloration
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Uneven or worn teeth
  • Minor alignment concerns

Veneers are one of the fastest and most effective ways to dramatically improve your smile while still maintaining a natural appearance.

What issues can veneers fix?

Veneers are highly versatile and can be used to correct a variety of aesthetic and minor structural issues, including:

  • Severely discolored or stained teeth that don’t respond well to whitening.
  • Worn-down or chipped teeth.
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth (diastema).
  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth.

How long do veneers last?

With proper care and regular dental visits, porcelain veneers can often last 10–15 years or longer. Maintaining good oral hygiene, avoiding habits like chewing ice, and wearing a nightguard if you grind your teeth can help extend the lifespan of your veneers.

Do you offer Invisalign?

Yes. Cosmetic Smile Center offers Invisalign clear aligners for teens and adults looking for a more discreet alternative to traditional braces.

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Many patients choose Invisalign because the aligners are removable, comfortable, and nearly invisible.

What are the benefits of clear aligners compared to traditional braces?

Clear aligners offer several advantages over traditional metal braces:

  • Discreet Appearance: They are nearly invisible, allowing you to straighten your teeth without the look of metal wires and brackets.
  • Comfort: The smooth plastic aligners are generally more comfortable than metal braces, which can cause irritation to the cheeks and gums.
  • Better Hygiene: Aligners are removable, so you can brush and floss normally, leading to better oral hygiene during treatment.
  • No Food Restrictions: Since you remove the aligners to eat, you don’t have to give up your favorite foods.

How do clear aligners work?

Clear aligners work by using a series of custom-made, clear, plastic trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Each set of aligners is slightly different and designed to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. You wear each set for about two weeks before advancing to the next tray in the series, slowly and precisely guiding your teeth toward a straight smile.

Am I a good candidate for clear aligners?

Clear aligners are an effective treatment for a wide range of orthodontic issues, including crowded teeth, spacing issues, and various bite problems (overbite, underbite, crossbite). The best way to determine if you are a good candidate is to schedule a consultation. We will take X-rays and digital scans of your mouth to assess your specific needs and determine the most effective treatment for you.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment time varies depending on your case, but many Invisalign patients complete treatment within 6–18 months. During your consultation, we can evaluate your smile and provide a more accurate estimate based on your individual needs.

Do you provide teeth whitening?

Absolutely. We offer professional teeth whitening treatments designed to safely remove stains and brighten your smile. Professional whitening is often more effective and longer-lasting than over-the-counter whitening products.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We are committed to helping you maximize your dental benefits. Please call our office with your insurance information (provider name, member ID, and group number). Our dedicated team will verify your coverage and clearly explain what is covered and what your estimated out-of-pocket costs will be. While we may be “in-network” with many carriers, we work with almost all PPO plans.

What payment options do you offer?

We strive to make dental care affordable and accessible. We accept the following payment options:

  • Cash
  • Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Debit Cards
  • Flexible Financing: We also partner with third-party financing options like CareCredit, Cherry, & Alphaeon to offer low or no-interest payment plans for more extensive treatments.

Please feel free to discuss any financial concerns with our office manager.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We understand that dental treatment is an investment, and we want to make care accessible for our patients. Cosmetic Smile Center offers financing options through third-party providers, including CareCredit, Cherry, and Alphaeon.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

We do our best to accommodate same-day appointments whenever possible, especially for dental emergencies or patients experiencing pain or discomfort.

If you are dealing with a dental emergency, we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible.

What qualifies as a dental emergency?

Common dental emergencies include:

  • Severe tooth pain
  • Swelling or infection
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • Knocked-out teeth
  • Lost crowns or fillings causing pain
  • Dental abscesses
  • Injuries to the mouth or gums

If you are unsure whether your issue is an emergency, our team can help guide you over the phone.

I have dental anxiety. Can you help?

Yes. We understand that many patients feel nervous about visiting the dentist. Our team works hard to create a calm, welcoming environment and provide gentle care throughout your visit.

We take the time to explain procedures, answer questions, and help patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during treatment.

Do you treat patients who speak Spanish?

Yes. Cosmetic Smile Center proudly offers bilingual care in both English and Spanish to help patients feel comfortable and understood during their visits.

How often should I visit the dentist?

For most patients, we recommend visiting the dentist every six months for a routine check-up and professional cleaning. These regular visits allow us to:

  • Identify and treat issues like cavities and gum disease early on.
  • Remove hardened plaque (tartar) that brushing and flossing can’t remove.
  • Screen for serious conditions like oral cancer.

Your dentist may recommend more frequent visits if you have specific gum disease concerns or other ongoing oral health issues.

What is the difference between a general dentist and a cosmetic dentist?

General Dentist: A general dentist is your primary oral healthcare provider. They focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of all general oral health issues, including cleanings, fillings, crowns, and root canals.

Cosmetic Dentist: While a cosmetic dentist is still a general dentist, they have additional training and a specialized focus on the aesthetics of your smile. They perform procedures designed to improve the appearance of your teeth, gums, and bite, such as veneers, teeth whitening, and cosmetic bonding. Our practice integrates both general and cosmetic services to provide comprehensive care.

How long does the dental implant process take?

The entire dental implant process typically spans 3 to 9 months, though this can vary depending on the patient and if bone grafting is required. The process generally includes three main phases:

  1. Surgical Placement: The titanium implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone.
  2. Healing (Osseointegration): A 3-6 month healing period where the implant fuses with the jawbone. This is the most critical step.
  3. Restoration: Once fully healed, a custom-made crown (the visible tooth) is attached to the implant post.

What is a root canal and why might I need one?

A root canal is a common endodontic procedure used to save a severely infected or damaged tooth instead of extracting it. When the pulp (the soft tissue inside your tooth containing nerves and blood vessels) becomes infected or inflamed, a root canal is necessary to clean out the diseased pulp, disinfect the inside of the tooth, and seal it to prevent future infection.

Will a root canal be painful?

The perception that root canals are painful is a common myth! In reality, the procedure itself is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a standard filling. We use modern anesthesia techniques to ensure the area is completely numb during the treatment. A root canal procedure actually relieves the severe pain and discomfort caused by the initial infection.

What are the signs that I might need a root canal?

While only a dentist can confirm the need for a root canal, common signs include:

  • Severe toothache pain, especially when chewing or applying pressure.
  • Prolonged sensitivity or pain after exposure to hot or cold temperatures.
  • A small, pimple-like bump (abscess) on the gums near the painful tooth.
  • Swelling and tenderness in the surrounding gums.
  • Darkening or discoloration of the tooth.

I am afraid of the dentist, how can you make me feel better in my appointment?

We understand that dental anxiety is common, and we are dedicated to making your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Please let us know about your fears when you book your appointment. Here is how we can help:

  • Open Communication: We will listen to your concerns and stop immediately if you need a break. We explain every step of the process before we begin.
  • Comfort Amenities: We offer options like blankets, neck pillows, and headphones (or allow you to bring your own music/podcasts) to help you relax.
  • Gentle Techniques: Our team is trained in gentle injection and treatment techniques.
  • Sedation Options: For patients with moderate to severe anxiety, we offer various sedation options (such as nitrous oxide/laughing gas or oral conscious sedation) to help you relax completely throughout your visit.
